Wow, I'm on a roll, tonight... after uploading Sketch 4, I immediately dove into work on Sketch 5 - The angelic forms of the main Angel characters. I'm not immediately going to identify which of these drawings belongs to which Angel, naturally!
For these forms, I wanted to do something unlike what most people do when they think of an "angel". I didn't want a pretty human with wings, nor did I want the freakish monsters from Evangelion. I wanted these characters to look something like the embodiment of an idea, if that idea had to occasionally move around and do stuff in physical form.
The markings on the angelic forms represent their Rank and which Realm they belong to. One of them (the lower-right) intentionally has a distinct LACK of crosses! I chose the Cross as the iconography for the Angels simply for utility's sake; they're easy to draw while being easily stylized, and they are also the most immediately recognizable religious icon in Western society. There will be Angels sporting other "holy symbols" as a result of their cultural origins later, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.
I kept the Angels as simple as I could, but it's actually HARDER to come up with these concepts than it is to create a human!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
